I certainly hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and if u are traveling hope you have safe trips so that if our paths may cross again next year we have the opportunity to see each other again...

Well, under the category of "if it ain't one thing, it's two"...one of Elizabeth's friends has put on Facebook that Elizabeth is in Emory Medical Center in Atlanta with pneumonia.

She is obviously going through an awful time...everyone redouble your prayers for her.

Grant

Elizabeth is in the hospital with pneumonia.  I'm going down to be with her the next two days and then her brother and sister in law will be there.  She is expected to have a full recovery.  Pray for her!  I know you are.

Lisa please let Elizabeth know that she is in my daily thots and prayers. May GOD wrap his arms around her and give her peace and comfort and give her strength to get well..Help the doctors find the right medicine or procedures that will attack this illness that has her sick. Give Elizabeth the will to fight this..I am sure to start with after the death of her husband she must have been depressed,so this can get her down that much more but her will to live and fight back will mean everything. Attitude and frame of mind plays a big part in any recovery and she has to fight this to get well.

Tell her not to give up and to keep her faith and everyone is praying for her to get well...and prayers do work...I know, I am living proof..

Lisa, please do keep us posted on her condition and do post her address so we can send her cards...when she gets better they will cheer her up...that was one thing I always looked forward to when I was sick..

Sending my love...Patricia

Just talked to Lisa.  Elizabeth is currently in the ICU on a ventilator and highly sedated to keep her calm, able to rest and hopefully releave some stress.  She will post additional updates later.

I spent the day at the hospital, but when Jim and Marilyn (brother and sister-in-law) got there we decided that since Elizabeth was not awake and there wasn't much I could do that I would come home.  Marilyn just called me and they got to talk to the doctor.  She has ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome).  She has been put into a paralytic coma so she won't move for 48 hours.  I hope I have all this correct.  I told Jim and Marilyn that so many of you have asked abouther, are praying for her and that you'd like to send cards.  Even though they are staying at her house, they would like for you to wait about sending the cards.  They appreciate it so much!  Thank you!  I'll try to keep you updated.  Please keep praying.

Classmates,  Each year I discover how blessed I am to have grown up in Shelbyville, but even more blessed to have been in the Class of '71.  You are a caring group.  I told her all of you where praying for her nd asking about her - she was sedated, but who knows maybe she heard and understood.  Even with the tubes, she looked good.  Thanks for the support!  I'll try to keep you informed.  If you are friends with Elizabeth on Facebook, you may see some post on updates from her really close friends in Atlanta.

Lisa, you are completely right about talking to her even when it seems they are not alert.  The doctors told us that it is very important.  She is in the prayers of a lot of caring people, and I know how important that is.  People often say that the least we can do is pray, but for a believing christian, prayer is about the most important thing we can do.  We are all blessed to have such caring and wonderful friends.

Thankful for all of you. So glad I reconnected at last reunion. Our class has been through trials and triumphs. Prayer has been an integral part of our lives.  Lisa, I am certain Elizabeth knows you were there and your words made an impression. Thank you for keeping us posted. 💕

Elizabeth maintained a stable response today to the aggressive interventions.  Tomorrow night they will start weaning her off the paralytic state and pre the nurse begin a very slow process of weanng her off the ventilator. Marilyn talks to her and told her about all your prayers and caring.  She said she is heavily sedated and may not hear, but she feels it is benificial.  She thinks the cards will be a good idea.  Mike Wells will send an email that is more private with her address.  Thanks.

Thank you, Lisa, for the updates on Elizabeth. We are keeping her in our prayers. Which hospital is she in?  Could we send notes/cards there?
