I never had the opportunity to get to know Maylinda, but I am certainly sorry she has passed. Each time we lose a classmate, we lose a part of our very special group, and it won't ever be the same.

I was sad to learn of the passing of Maylinda.  It makes you stop and ponder, doesn't it, when you hear of a classmate who is no longer with us.  I lived near Maylinda in Shelbyville in the years after graduation when we both had young children.  She was quick to laugh and was great with advice.  She was strong, determined, and made her own decisions.  After I moved to CA, I visited with her as she relocated to Long Beach.  Somewhere in those years, she worked as a corrections officer, and later moved to Miami, FL.  I don't know the rest of her story, but I'm glad she was a part of mine.

Maylinda and I were life long friends since 1st grade at Wheel school. We kept in contact even after I moved to Georgia. We spoke often, and I miss her. She loved to come to our house on Rock Creek in Marshall County and we played in the water, fished and paddled daddy's boat for a mile. During these times we solved all the problems of young teenagers. The dairy barn was a treat for her too. All the things
I thought was hard work, she enjoyed doing. I looked back over all my old school pictures and that brought back many memories. Our lives took very different paths, but we made time to for us. She was my best friend!

Pat, what a sweet memorial. I did not know Maylinda well. We shared a study hall and I think a home room. She was sweet & quiet. I am sorry for the loss.

Thanks for the post Elizabeth and Pat.  I can't say I knew her very well but I just remember she was quite and sweet. Wish I'd known her better.
