Carol died November 6, 1992, from complications of bladder and kidney cancer.  She was a respected and beloved 2nd grade teacher at the time.  Her death was a heart-breaking loss to me and those who loved her.  Her husband, Harry Drake, never got over her death.  He died several years after Carol did.  We were best friends in high school and then again when I moved back home in August of 1991 to care for my mom and dad during their last illnesses.  Mary Helen

What I remember best about Carol was the smile she always had on her face, in spite of health issues she had even back then. She had a distinctive laugh too; in fact, I can't remember ever seeing her appear to be unhappy. When we all hopefully get together at the reunion, we will certainly feel her loss again.

Carol lived up the street from me when I was in high school.  She was quiet, sweet and kind.  My last memory of her was seeing her and Harry dancing at the Horse Show dance.

I remember a Friday night during our freshman year at MTSU.....Susan Lytle, Sharon Parrish, Carol and I went into Nashville, probably to go to Fridays. We missed our sign in time at the dorm. Rather than get in trouble we pitched in to get a room at some motel across from the VA. We were scared to death, up at dawn checking back into the dorm. Not much sleep but lots of laughs.

Carol and I were not only second cousins but best friends in jr. high and high school.  We had lots of fun, especially in high school.  She was my maid of honor at my wedding, and our last time laughing and having fun together was at the last class reunion I attended.  A couple of weeks later she called me and told me she had cancer.  I miss her so much.  She was not only a sweet, smart girl but a great friend.

Jan Jackson             Carol was the kind of friend one can only hope for but rarely fine.  I was lucky to be her friend and soul mate.  We had no secrets.  I will always miss her
